Description: Spores tetrahedral-globose, brown, 32 × 30 μm, surface covered with prominent tubercles, with papillae near the aperture, and a trilete scar with long arms (1/3 to 3/4 the radius).

Modern occurence: Grammitis has a pantropic distribution across tropical, subtropical and warm temperate regions. These are small, often epiphytic ferns, usually growing in mossy substrates on trees (Tryon and Lugardon, 1990).
