Description: Spores tetrahedral-globose, often deeply curved, yellow to brown, 37–30 × 30 μm, surface faintly patterned (rugate or irregularly papillate), trilete scar with relatively short arms (2/3 the radius). This type may be affiliated with Coniogramme africana Hieron., which occurs in tropical Africa and Madagascar in submontane and subalpine zones at altitudes ranging from ca. 1100 to 2200 m (Tryon and Lugardon, 1990; Hemp, 2002).
