Description: Conidia transversally 5-septate, ca. 55 µm long and 20–28 µm wide. Basal cells paler (thinner walled). Not constricted at septa or hardly so. This type is heterogenous with at least two taxa: Bactrodesmium cf. obovatum (Oudem.) M.B. Ellis and B. cf. moeni (Palm and Stewart).
(Sub-) Fossil occurence: No information
Co-occurence: Fraxinus, Ulmus, Alnus, and Quercus wood
Modern occurence: Ellis ( 1971) mentions B. obovatum on wood and bark of deciduous trees including Alnus, Fraxinus, Fagus, Betula, Ulmus and Quercus.
Palaeoenvironmental indication: Presens of host plants
